Can a 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe be Flat Towed and Have a Front Mount Hitch and Winch System

Updated 12/22/2025 | Published 10/06/2024

Question:

I have a 2022 Wrangler Rubicon 4xe with factory steel bumper with proximity sensors. I want to do the following: 1 Add a front-mounted 2-inch hitch receiver 2 Add a winch not sure yet if I want a Warn or Harbor Freight winch? 3 Flat tow behind a 2000 Ford F-350 7.3 Diesel need everything…bracket, tow bar, braking system, wiring harness, etc. Can you please provide me a recommended list of components that will all work together? Thanks!

Hey Chad,

I can definitely help you out with some parts, but you're going to have to choose between the front hitch/winch setup and the flat tow setup because the front mount receiver installs in the same place as the base plates so they both won't fit at the same time. Some alternative solutions are to transport the Jeep using a trailer, or finding a front bumper that fits your Jeep, has a mount for a winch, and is rated for flat towing.

If you find a bumper that let's you accomplish all of this then I recommend the following for flat towing:

- D-Ring Adapter # RM-035 for 3/4" Mounts or Adapter # RM-035-1 for 1" Mounts
- Roadmaster Nighthawk All-Terrain Tow Bar w/ LED Lights # RM-676
- Tow Bar Wiring # RM47ZR
- Stay-IN-Play DUO Brake System # DM86VR
- High-Low Adapter (see attached article)

Hey Chad, what direction did you end up going with your Wrangler—did you decide on the flat tow setup or the front hitch and winch combo? Your update could make it easier for others trying to balance both options on a similar Jeep.
