There are a few different ways that you can route a power wire from one place a vehicle to the vehicle battery. I have included a link to an article with tips on routing power wires that you may find helpful.
Basically there are 3 ways that you can run a wire: completely outside of the vehicle with the wire exposed; inside the frame on vehicles that have openings in the frame, and finally through the vehicle. Running it through the vehicle protects the wire the best though you usually end up needing additional wire because of all of the twists and turns and it takes a little longer.
