Hey Bruce, thanks for reaching out. It sounds like your 2023 Ford E450 Super Duty already has the factory tow package with the OEM brake control connector. If so, I recommend using the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # TK99UR. The P3 controller is our most durable, user-friendly and best review controller. This one comes with a custom pigtail that will allow for plug-and-play install. You can see a few pictures of the custom pigtail below if you want to compare this to your connector.

Hey Bruce, how did things go with the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 brake controller on your E450? Did the custom pigtail match up with your factory connector as expected? Your update could make it easier for others working with the same setup.

@JesseM I have a 2024 E450 cutaway with a 7 pin plug on the rear bumper from the factory. How can I tell if it is wired to the cab for a trailer brake controller? It did not come with one installed. Thanks Mike

@Mike The best way to truly know if you have the full tow package would be to have a dealership check the VIN but if you have the factory 7-way generally the factory brake control port will be there too. It would look like a grey 14-pin connector like in the picture above. The factory plug is typically located behind the dash behind the coin tray. Take a look at this video. If you fast forward to about the 16:30 mark you can see Ryan remove the coin tray and find the plug.

The pins don’t match the placement of the pins on the Motorhome.

@BruceR Hmm usually all Fords use the same connector. Any chance you could email me a picture of the brake controller connector on your motorhome? My email is [email protected]
