Question:

Hi, I'm interested in changing my 2018 grand design 2970rl drum brakes to the deemax disc brake system. Can you put together a full list of a package that I need please? thanks

Hello Terry; your Imagine 2970RL uses a 4,400 lb axle according to the Grand Design parts site. 4,400 lb axles are now obsolete so you will likely have to swap axles if you want to add disc brakes.

Right now you have a 4,400 lb hub/drum with a 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern. If you can find a 4,400 lb idler hub with a 6 on 5-1/2 bolt pattern you could use the DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit # DE82FR which is a slip-on rotor. We only have a hub and drum assembly left for 4.4k axles so unfortunately, I can't supply you with the idler hub.

You will also need the DeeMaxx Hydraulic Brake Line Kit - Tandem Axle # DE57SR along with the DeeMaxx Alpha G1600 Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator # DE47SR. Since you have electric brakes now you should already have a breakaway kit and brake controller so that is everything.

If you aren't able to find a hub to make this work and want to replace the axle to make this conversion I can still help you out. However, I will need the serial number off your axle tag to help find a replacement.

Hi Robin, Thank you. I did not see the reply until now. Ok let's switch gears then. Do you sell a larger axle with disc brakes and pump assembly with hoses that will bolt on to my travel trailer? If so, please send the part numbers for pricing for everything. Thanks

@TerryZ can you get a picture of your axle tag? You can respond to the email that brought you to the answer page with the picture attached. I will need that information to be able to identify the axle and see if we have a replacement.
