Can 1/2" U-Bolts Be Used In Place of 9/16" Diameter U-Bolts

Updated 01/12/2026 | Published 09/06/2024

Question:

Can I use 1/2inch Dia U bolts in place of 9/16inch Dia I just received my Roadmaster Comfort Ride w Shocks kit for my 2019 Vanleigh 320GK with 7,000 lb axles. I need longer U Bolts but cannot find the same 9/16inch dia as installed that are 7 3/4inch long. You have and show as a recommended U bolt the MORryde 7 3/4inch but these are 1/2inch dia. Can I use these 1/2inch dia. U Bolts in place of my 9/16inch dia. that are too short or do you have 7 1/2inch - 8inch long 9/16inch dia. U Bolts for 3inch dia. axles?

Yes you can, Don. The MORryde U-Bolts for 5,200-lb to 7,000-lb Round Trailer Axles # MR66ZR which are 7 3/4" long, will work fine in place of the 9/16" ones, and will also work with your 7,000 lb axles.

Hey Don, how did the MORryde U-bolts work out with your Roadmaster Comfort Ride kit on the Vanleigh? It’d be great to hear if they fit well with your 7,000 lb axles. Your update could make it easier for the next person with the same setup.

The U-bolts fit perfectly, no issues when installing the new Roadmaster Comfort Ride Kit. My existing U-bolts would have been too short.
