Tie Down 70LP Actuator Is Locking Up Brakes After Backing Up
Updated 08/30/2024 | Published 08/26/2024 >
Question:
I have the 70lp brake actuator with reverse lockout solenoid. i put new calipers on bleed fine. took on a little trip did great until i back up. brakes did not release after backing up the actuator was solid. i did break the line loose right after the reverse solenoid and the actuator started working as it should. so i blew all the brake lines out and rebleed them they bleed like they should and the actuator moves in and out like it should. some thing took on short trip after backing up the brakes wouldnt release and the actuator would not move back and forth. so i broke the brake line right after the solenoid and the actuator started to work as it should. do you think the reverse lockout needs to be replaced.

Hello Branden. The reverse lockout solenoid should activate when the vehicle is put in reverse and allow you to back up your trailer without issue. It sounds like the solenoid is bad or there is something else internally wrong with your actuator that is causing it to seize up and not release the brakes. I would try replacing the solenoid, and if that does not fix the issue I would replace the actuator entirely.
