Question:
Im looking to bypass my transmission/radiator deal before anything happens and need to know if these trans coolers replace or just compliment the OEM trans cooler. Also, if you know - when did trans coolers become standard on vehicles :

A lot of people with Nissan vehicles are looking to bypass the factory cooler contained in the radiator like on your 2007 Nissan Pathfinder. The coolers we carry are designed to supplement the factory cooler although some people have used them to replace the factory cooler.
You would want to go with the largest cooler possible if you bypass the factory cooler and the inlet/outlets on the radiator for the factory cooler will have to be plugged. Or instead of the largest cooler you would go with a remote cooler that has its own fan such as # D13950.
It may also benefit you to replace the factory radiator with an aftermarket one since the issue on these vehicles is the leaking between the coolant and transmission cooler portions of the radiator. The expense is not as much as you might think. Coolers have existed for vehicles with automatic transmissions for a very long time. Some are external and some are built into the radiator. I do not know exactly when they were developed. It would have been in the 1940s and 50s.
