Is The Yakima JawLow Kayak Carrier Compatible With Yakima RailBar Crossbars

Can Yakima JayLow be installed on Yakima Railbar crossbars?

Hi Sergei,

The Yakima JayLow Kayak Roof Rack w/ Tie-Downs # Y04073 can fit crossbars with a maximum width of 3.5" and height of 1-11/16 and it looks like the RailBar crossbars are 4" wide so they would not be a fit. If you can tell me the year/make/model of your vehicle I could pick out some crossbars that will work for with the JayLow.

it's a 2002 Audi allroad. My JayLow actually just got delivered and I measured and the max extent of the clamps and seems it should work, I'm not sure why they advertise it on;y works with 3.5" max width bars. I will try to install later and will take a picture. I love railcars as they are the absolutely quietest solution on my roof and have them permanently mounted and will be able to use Yakima's SKS with all my accessories Thank you!

@Sergei 3.5" is kind of an industry standard for most accessories so it leads me to believe it's either physically not capable with the feet or that they tested it and with the feet spread past that width it wasn't able to keep a secure grip or allowed for more wear and tear on accessory. I can't recommend going with it on a crossbar wider than 3.5" but if it works for you then go for it.
