Is There Way to Carry Kayak on Roof of Truck that is Towing Travel Trailer

Updated 02/03/2026 | Published 07/12/2024

Question:

Good morning, Im looking to add on a second hitch to my heavy duty travel trailer hitch. Im towing ~7,500. I want to add either a splitter or add-on hitch for a kayak off the top of my truck. Nothing heavy. Is there a safe and easy way to do this. An extension option would be awesome. Im tired of banging up my tailgate.

Hey Cassie, it sounds like maybe you are looking for something like the Rhino Rack T Load part # RTL002 which is a hitch mounted upright load bar you could use to carry a kayak. You would need to have a front hitch installed on the vehicle as well. I would need to know the year/make/model of the truck to help with that.

Hey Cassie, did you end up trying the Rhino-Rack T-Load setup for carrying your kayak? Your update could make it easier for others looking to haul lighter gear safely behind a travel trailer. Once you know what worked, it’ll be great to share how it handled the extra load.
