Low Profile AC System Recommendations for a 2015 Forest River FR3 Motorhome

Question:

2015 FR3 30DS - Need to replace existing A/C unit with a low profile unit and add a 2nd one. Can you identify a compatible low profile? I need to lower them by 3 inches.

Hey Jim, thanks for reaching out!

For a completely new AC system we have the Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System # FR24FJ which uses two AC units that communicate with a single thermostat to give you the feeling like you're at home. These sit 13-5/8" tall.

For something that sits lower at only 10-1/8" tall we have the Advent Low Profile AC System # ASA26YR but you'll need to purchase 2 of these since they only come in a single kit.

If you let me know what AC unit you currently have on your motorhome I can see if we have something that is more plug and play for your motorhome.

Greetings Jon, thank you for getting back to me. I have the standard single that came from the factory on my FR3. I do not expect to be able to run 2 units at the same time and that I need to wire the rear separately. I would just like the front one to work with the existing thermostat setup. The most important part is to lower the existing unit by 3 inches at least so it can fit in my shop for the winter.

@JimY What AC unit is on your FR3? I don't have specs on what initially came with it so I won't know the dimensions or if any of our kits will be plug and play.

@JimY According to their manual those air conditioners sit 12.8" tall so the 10-1/8" Advent Low Profile AC System # ASA26YR is going to be your best bet, although that won't reduce the height by 3" like you're wanting. The Advent Low Profile system is the shortest on the market so you may need to get creative for that last part of an inch.
