Can Spring Bars of Reese Pro Round Bar WD System be Upgraded to Change Tongue Weight Range
Updated 02/03/2026 | Published 06/29/2024 >
Question:
I have a Reese 49911 WDH I bought when I had a light trailer with 500lbs Tongue weight Now I’m closer to 1000lbs. Can I keep the hitch and just replace the round bars ? If so, can you recommend them? Also, can I pair these with airbags? Ram 2500 Cummins. Trailer is Rockwood micro lite 2305s just shut of 6000lbs loaded dual axle.

Hey James, so I wish the Reese Pro Bar Round WD systems like the part # RE44FR had replacement spring bars so that you could change the tongue weight range as needed but Reese does not offer that at this time. Best solution would be the part # RE44FR though as that would be correct rating for your new trailer based on what you mentioned.

Hey James, how did things work out with the Reese Pro Round Bar hitch for your Rockwood trailer? Did the new setup handle the 1,000‑lb tongue weight the way you needed? Your update could make it easier for others upgrading their weight distribution systems.
