Question:
will the tail gate sensor and back-up camera still work

Don't worry Skip, you are going to be able to use your hands free liftgate sensor and backup camera with the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76226 installed on your 2018 BMW X3. For the hands free liftgate you will need to kick to either side of the hitch tube but do understand one side may work better than the other so you will want to test this to determine which side works best on your BMW.
I recommend installing the 4-Way # TK77FR when you install the receiver. This will allow for you to connect to most trailers you might tow and add Auxiliary Lights # C53201 to a bike rack or cargo carrier which impairs the view of your tail lights to other drivers.
