Solar Panel Kit for Dump Trailer to Keep Battery Topped Off

Updated 02/17/2026 | Published 06/15/2024

Question:

I built a dual 3500lbs axle aluminum dump trailer and would like to change the battery with a solar charger. This trailer is not for commercial use ts my personal trailer and if i dump 3 loads on a Saturday it may sit for a week What would you recommend for reliability solar charger? Thanks Mike

Hey Mike, I would go with a permanent install solar panel kit like the Go Power Retreat part # 34272635 which at it's peak can put out a 5.43 amp charge which would do a great job keeping your battery topped off during the week. The panel isn't huge but it is a decent size at 47-1/8" long x 21-1/2" wide which you'd need to mount on the trailer in an area that gets sunlight like maybe on the tongue but it really depends on how the trailer is setup.

Hey Mike, how did the Go Power Retreat solar panel work out for keeping your dump trailer battery charged between uses? Your update could make it easier for others managing similar setups.
