Hello. I am looking for a roof rack capable of carrying a 28ft aluminum extension ladder on a 2016 Chevy equinox. Currently bare roof. Wondering if it’s even possible. Preferably one that doesn’t clamp to the door openings because there’s not a lot of room between the spots for attachment. Thanks

Robert, if you have a bare roof your only option for a roof rack is going to be one that clamps into the door jambs. These roof racks don't seem like they'll be secure on the surface, but actually end up being just as good as a standard roof rack.
