What Might Cause Trailer Jack to Become Difficult to Crank After Welding to Trailer

Updated 05/30/2024 | Published 05/27/2024

Question:

Hello I purchased a new Bulldog Trailer Jack BD180455 and then had it professionally welded to a trailer and had no problem with test cranking up and down prior to welding, but now after the welding its very hard and tight to crank. Any Suggestions on how to fix this? Thank You, Ray

Hey Ray, that is pretty odd to hear. If everything was done properly the welding of the jack shouldn't have affected anything in the jack's internals. If you can take the cap off the jack and look down maybe you can see what's going on. You can also take the drop leg off the jack and look up into it from there as well.

Thanks for replying... I did remove the cap and all the parts, but can't seem to see why it's doing it... Ray

@Raymond Did the handle get bent maybe? Like bent down inside the jack housing so it can't turn properly? You could look at the screw and handle while cranking it with the handle removed.
