The Australian 7-pole is like the European 7-pole in that it has separate turn signals and brake lights (and a few other functions not used in the states). A US 4-Way and trailer will have the turn signals combined with the brake lights on each side of the trailer. So you would have a ground (earth), running lights, left turn and brake lights, right turn and brake lights.
In order to separate out the turn signals from the brake lights you would need a converter, # 118158. You would wire in the combined left turn/brake to the input yellow wire, and the combined right turn/brake to the green input wire. Ground or earth the white wire to the trailer or vehicle frame.
On the output side you would have yellow wire for left turn only, a green wire for right turn only, and a red wire for brake lights only. The running light wire and any other wire would bypass this converter.
