Does Demco Surge Coupler Have to Sit Flush to Tongue When Bolted In
Updated 05/22/2024 | Published 05/20/2024 >
Question:
I have a 1989 24foot boat trailer. I have replaced the old surge hitch with the DM8759411. With that said this hitch has 3 sets of fastening bolts. My old one only had 2. The first 2 line up. However like the old hitch it does not sit flat on the trailer tongue There is a gap of about 1/2inch when bolts are installed. Is this correct? I want to be sure as I will need to drill the third holes in the tongue and want to make sure of alignment before I do. If the gap should not be there, please advise for correction. Thank you, Rick

Hey Rick, so as long as you have all three of the mounting holes of the Demco Surge Actuator part # DM8759411 in use when you install it the gap between the bottom of the coupler and your trailer tongue is totally fine.
