Can this be welded on, and just not use the bolt holes?

Hi Brett,
Yes, technically you can weld on the 21,000 lb Demco Channel Tongue Trailer Coupler # DM16080-81.
It's got a black powder coat though, so while I'm not a welder, my understanding is you have to strip that all off before welding. If you really want to weld and not bolt on a coupler the only other option for a 2-5/16", 21k coupler for a 3" tongue is the Dexter Coupler for 2-5/16" Ball - Weld On # T1755000.
I'd go with that instead of the Demco if welding is your preference.
