Can 2 Yakima JayHook Carriers Be Used on 2022 Subaru Forester OEM Roof Rack System

What is the minimum length for a cross bar to fit 2 J hooks on one bar so as to transport 2 kayaks? I have a 2022 Subaru Forester with 27inch of bare cross bar real estate on the rear bar. Slightly more space on the front bar. Will this be enough room to fit 2 J hooks, back to back?

Hey Amy, thanks for reaching out!
The Yakima JayHook Kayak Roof Rack w/ Tie-Downs # Y04084 measure 9-1/2" from the front of the hook to the back of the upright, so you'll technically be able to get 2 sets on the 27" wide crossbar on your 2022 Subaru Forester.
With that being said, the OEM crossbars sit really close to your roof so while the JayHook will technically fit, the mounting hardware will be dangerously close to touching your roof when loaded so I recommend swapping those bars out for the Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack # MPG215 so you get 50" of crossbar real estate along with a higher profile to keep your roof in great condition.
