The towing capacity for your 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 will depend on your axle ratio. If your axle ratio is 4.10 with a 2WD Regular Cab Standard Box your max trailer weight is 4,900 lbs which isn't enough. All other configurations exceed 5,000 lbs. I recommend checking your owner's manual once you find your axle ratio for the exact towing capacity.
Assuming you don't have the model with the 4,900 lb towing capacity you will want to add a weight distribution hitch to keep you level and reduce sway. You need to choose one based on the loaded tongue weight of your setup. This includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of your truck. For a quality WDH that is widely considered the best I recommend an Equal-i-zer system. You can choose from the following based on your tongue weight:
-Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control # EQ37040ET (tongue weight up to 400 lbs)
-Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control # EQ37060ET (tongue weight range 200 - 600 lbs)
-Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control # EQ37100ET (600 lbs - 1,000 lbs)
