Question:
I’m now using a CPAP machine at night. Wondering if I can run an inverter off my 2 trailer batteries to power the CPAP all night? I was thinking of using 200-400 watt solar panels to recharge the batteries during the day. I also have a generator to charge batteries up. Or am I better off buying a rechargeable battery/generator system? Thanks.

Hello Scott, it certainly is possible to run an inverter off your trailer batteries in order to power your CPAP machine. I am not sure exactly what machine you have but it looks like most of these machines are going to need in the neighborhood of 40 to 50 amp hours per night. So as long as your batteries are able to meet this kind of output, plus any other electrical devices you may be running, adding an inverter such as the Progressive Dynamics 1000 Watt Inverter w/ Transfer Switch # PD94FR will be a great option. I do suggest that you look up exactly how many watts your CPAP machine pulls to determine if this inverter is rated high enough. You will also want to know your machines AMP draw to determine if your batteries will have enough power to get you thru a full night's sleep.
Again, I am not sure what kind of batteries or usage you have, but adding a solar setup is a great way to keep your batteries charged without having to run your generator.
I have included a few help articles below that you may find useful.
