Question:
Hello, I recently bought the Yakima EXO system. Unfortunately, nearly every lock core on it is different from the other. I am trying to replace eight of the lock cores. I’ve searched the Internet and tried using the control key to remove the cores on the end of the knobs that hold the racks. It doesn’t want to seem to release the core. Thank you.

I completely understand your frustration Jordan. We do have our Yakima Same Key System # Y07208 which includes 8 cores all keyed alike so you would only need to have the one key to open all the components on your Yakima EXO # Y94ZR. Otherwise if you can tell me what lock key codes you do have I can check to see if we have any of those cores already so you are not having all the additional cores.
As far as having trouble removing the lock cores you will want to ensure the locks are unlocked as the Control Key # Y8007835 will only work when the lock core is unlocked. This prevents theft if someone just has the control key. Also as the parts are new you will likely need to jiggle it slightly as they could be some of the grease from the lock cores helping it to stick inside the opening.

Yes, I already have replacement lock cores and a control key and I’m doing it the way it is shown on the video for other applications. The knobs at the end of the EXO interchangeable racks don’t seem to want to let go of the lock core. Is there a different technique for the knobs?
