Can 2019 Ford Flex Carry Mobility Scooter

Question:
My father needs a mobility scooter and he has a 2019 ford flex. The installer who was going to install the outside carrier and hitch stated he could not outfit a ford flex because the scooter and carrier would be to heavy. Any suggestions?

More than likely they were right, but it depends on the weight of the scooter, carrier, and tongue weight capacity of the hitch and vehicle. A hitch like the # e52AR has a max tongue weight of 400 lbs while the # e95KR is 500 lbs so it can vary between hitches.
However, even if this is enough it doesn't mean your vehicle can handle it. You will need to check your owner's manual to see how much it is capable of carrying. If you aren't sure, check with your local dealer to find out.
Once you know these capacities you can determine if the scooter and carrier are too heavy. A carrier like the # FHG67ZR is on the lighter side with aluminum construction at 53.95 lbs. You will need to add that to the weight of the scooter and see if it exceeds the tongue weight capacity of your vehicle or the hitch, whichever is lower.
