Hi. Is this light bar DOT approved? Would it be legal to have the bar mounted inside on the back window facing the rear of the vehicle?

Hi Chris,

Yes, the Demco LED Light Bar for Towed Vehicles w/ Wireless Transmitter # DM36MV is approved and legal for flat towing your vehicle. It's designed to attach to the rear window with a suction cup and face rearward so that others on the road can clearly see your light signals. There could be separate laws depending on the area you're traveling through so you'll need to check with those municipalities but you really shouldn't have an issue unless your rear window is dirty and not allowing visibility for the light.

The power cord for this light is 11-1/2' long so you might need the Demco 12 Volt Outlet Kit # DM83FR for power. To prevent the battery from draining while you tow I recommend also installing a charge line kit # RM-156-25.
