Troubleshooting a 2006 Hallmark Enclosed Trailer Getting Power to 7-Way But No Lights

Updated 02/22/2024 | Published 02/15/2024

Question:

I have a 2006 Hallmark 20’ enclosed trailer. All four tail lights work. The right side brake and turn signal work but the left side brake and turn signals do not. 7 pin connector on my truck shows both sides getting power at the pins.

If you're getting power to the pins but the lights aren't lighting up then you have either a grounding issue or a short somewhere in your circuit.

You'll need to start by checking the main connector grounds, and make sure they are attached to clean and corrosion free bare metal surface. Your trailer light grounds should also be attached to a clean, and bare metal surface.

If there is anything between the light grounds and the metal trailer frame, if the trailer has an aluminum frame, tilt bed, or folding tongue - the grounds can be interrupted.

Thank you for the quick follow up. In regards to the grounds on the left side. Both left taillights work, so is that an indication it is not the ground but a short some where between the trailer 7 pin connector and the left side brake/turn signal lights.

@Glen I'd say so, Glen. I'd comb through your wiring then and look for damaged wires.
