I am looking for a roof rack to put onto my 2001 Ford Excursion I have the rails already I think I wont a kind of basket with the end open for sheets of wood. 4x8 sheets

We do offer a roof rack system that will fit your 2001 Ford Excursion with the factory side rails. I recommend the Yakima roof rack that has 58 inch round crossbars. When ordering this roof rack system you will need to order part # Y00409, part # Y00221, part # Y03536, and part # Y53TR.

We currently do not offer any roof baskets that have open ends as you are describing. The largest roof basket i can recommend is the Surco Safari Rack 5.0 Rooftop Cargo Basket, part # SPS5084-Y400. This basket is large and measures 84 inches long by 50 inches wide and is 5 inches deep. . This basket weighs approximately 37 lbs.

You will want to check your owners manual or with your dealership to make sure you do not exceed the roof weight capacity of your Excursion.
