Troubleshooting An SH Error Code With A Tekonsha Primus IQ Brake Controller
Question:
I have a Tundra Toyota 2013 with a travel trailer of 32 foot, 7,500 pounds and I have made installed, 3 years ago, a Primus IQ #90160. Last year I have had a problem code SH that flashed and the brakes didnt work. When we are on ruff road the SH code disappeard and the brakes came back and after the SH code is back. I have change the traver trailer cable and I have made check by Toyota Dealer and RV Dealer and they said all is correct. The problem is intermittent. This year we have the same problem. Im asking to myself the question if its the Primus IQ #90160 should be defect. Im waiting news from you. Thank you.

SH on your Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller # TK90160 means that you have a short somewhere in your wiring causing the loss of braking power. Typically this is just a loose ground on the trailer or a cut/kink in the output wire for the brakes but you'll need to check all of the wiring from the brake controller to the brake assemblies in order to find the issue. With it being intermittent it's most likely just a loose connection and shouldn't be too hard to track down. If no issues are found in the wiring then the controller could be defective and in need of replacement.
