Replacing A 4 Wire Trailer Connector With The Bargman WG54006-043

Question:
My boat trailer came with a coiled connector just like the: Bargman 54006-043 Coiled 7-Way Molded Trailer Wire Connector. The coiled rubbering has deteriorate, but it only has 4 wires white, brown, green, yellow. Could I replace it with the Bargman, and how should it be wired.

The Bargman # WG54006-043, along with any other 7-way trailer connector will have 7 wires inside. Green, red, brown, yellow, blue, black and white. What you are describing with the white, brown, green and yellow wires, sound like the standard 4-pin connections. If your trailer has a 7 way plug with only those 4 wires, it almost sounds like someone may have done a DIY wiring job on this trailer at some point, and wired a 7 pin plug to a 4 wire trailer harness.
That being said, you certainly can use the Bargman # WG54006-043 to replace the 7 way plug on your trailer. Or you can use the Wesbar Trailer End Connector # 54000-026 for a coiled 4 flat connector.
If you go the 4 flat route, you will just connect white to white and green to green and so on.
For the Bargman 7- way plug, it would be red wire on the 7 way connector to the yellow wire on your trailer, Brown to green, green to brown, and white to white.
