Can the 60” x 12” pad be used on the trailer side rather than the divider?

Yes, the 60" Horse Trailer Side Pad # HTP1260BK is essentially a universal option so you can install it wherever you're wanting to as long as you have the space for it.
You'll need to pick up #8 x 3/4" sized screws for this installation.
