Are Washers Needed When Installing Horse Trailer Side Pads?

Hello, I purchased the trailer divider pads and have 3/8” self tapping screws. Do I need to use any additional hardware such as washers when I attach them to my divider?

A 3/8" self tapping screw seems a bit large for the Horse Trailer Side Pads # HTP1260BK but I do recommend always using a washer like the 3/8" # 01292006-020-01. This will help spread out the surface area which means the pad is less likely to rip on the screw head.
We typically recommend the Trailer Horse Pad Screw # PS-8 which has a small coned washer already on the screw.
