How Do You Replace Burned Out Bulbs of a Bulb and Socket Flat Towing Wiring Kit

Updated 03/24/2014 | Published 03/21/2014

Question:

So after using the RTV to seal the bulb sockets in place in the factory housing that had to be drilled out how do you change a burned out bulb? And dont the inside of the lenses in most hounsing have a textured surface to focus the light based on the position of the bulbs? Is this really a good solution?

In the event of a burned out bulb on the Roadmaster Tail Light Wiring Kit part # RM-155 you would need to remove the socket from the back of your light assembly, change the bulb, clean off the old RTV and then reapply new RTV to reinstall the socket.

The inside of the housing does have reflectors to help make the light more visible. However, the bulbs of this kit are very bright and I can assure you they will be visible. If you check out the video I attached and fast forward to the 7:15 mark of the video you will see this kit tested on a vehicle and you can see just how visible they are.

There are other lighting solutions though if you do not feel like this is the kit for you. Check out the FAQ article I attached on how to pick out a lighting system to fit your needs.
