Troubleshooting Prodigy P2 Brake Controller Where Light Stays on All the Time
Published 07/19/2023 >
Question:
I have a question for you. I have a 2002 Dodge Ram 3500 truck with a P2 Prodigy Brake Controller and I tow a 2 axle 33-foot, travel trailer. I have a LED light that NEVER go off in the display of the controller. I believe that it is supposed to go off after 15 minutes of NON use. Well after several days of it being illuminated I finality unplugged the power connector on the back side of the unit. So, my question to you what is going on with this controller? Note: I have repeated plugging the controller several time and coming up with the same results. Thank You

It definitely shouldn't be on for that length of time. After 15 minutes or so it should go into a sleep mode that turns that light off. It's unlikely it's sensing activity since the vehicle is parked so that would indicate something is wrong with the controller. For fear of it failing in other ways when needed I would recommend replacing it sooner than later.
