Do they not have a backbone kit for the 2012 Jeep rubicon? I really like this system and it would be perfect for what I want to use it for.

There is a backbone system for the 2012 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. It is the Rhino-Rack Backbone Mounting System item # RRRJKB2 for the 2-door models or item # RRRJKB1 for 4-door.
If you want to attach crossbars you will need the following parts:
Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars - Aluminum - Black - 59" Long - Qty 2 item # RRVA150B-2
Rhino-Rack Quick Mount Legs for Vortex Aero Crossbars - Qty 4 item # RRRLT600
