Troubleshooting PL Error Code On A Tekonsha Primus Brake Controller

Question:
Hi, I have an 2019 e450 motorhome. I purchased a primus brake controller and the quick harness to plug into the factory wiring connector in the dash. Im getting the flashing PL on the controller and a bunch of lights on the dash and security light flashing. I used a test light and I have solid power from the brake light and with the key on I have positive 12 bolts at the black and red wire with the controller disconnected. Any ideas where my issue is? I may just hard wire it but I bought the wiring kit so it would be nice to utilize it ! Thanks Kevin

The PL error code indicates the controller is losing power while the brake pedal is pressed. It wounds like you have already done a good bit of testing. I also would not assume that there is an issue with any of the wiring on the vehicle since is is relatively new and all OEM wiring. The most probable cause is a loose connection with the plug on the brake controller. In this case I do believe that hardwiring the controller will solve the issue. If it does not, then you have a defective controller.
You could always take the controller out and do a bench test by wiring the controller straight to power temporarily and seeing if the error code goes away.
