Are Resistors Needed for Hyperflashing LED Lights?
Updated 07/07/2023 | Published 07/06/2023 >
Question:
I have a 1958 Triumph TR3 negative ground car. Ive put LED bulbs on the turn signals, a CEC ef33rl electronic flasher, and a resister between the distributor and the distributor cap. They will work correctly most times but will hyperflash at other times. When the engine isnt running it works all of the time. The catalogue at Moss Motors where I get parts says I dont need resistors at the bulbs. Any thoughts? I appreciate your help!

The reason your lights are hyperflashing is because LED lights only draw a fraction of the power that standard incandescent lights do and to fix it you'd need to use a resistor # DI34ZR.
The only issue I can think of is that maybe your resistors are installed in the incorrect spot. When you install these, you're going to want to do is tap one end of the load resistor into the power wire and the other end will either ground to the trailer or the ground wire from the bulb as shown in the diagram attached.
