Troubleshooting ER Code on a Draw-Tite Activator IV Brake Controller

Question:
i have an activator 4 controller on an 85 chevy truck and when you press the brake pedal with the level on anything but 0.0 it shows er code. When you slide the manual slide over brakes work perfect no matter what number.

I wish I had better news for you, but the ER code means the controller is broken and needs to be replaced. If you check out the installation instructions I attached you will see that in the troubleshooting chart the ER code means internal problem and the only solution is to replace the controller.
Before you replace the controller I would go over the wiring of your trailer and trailer connectors looking for anything that could have caused a short such as corrosion or exposed wire and fix as necessary. I'd hate to see you break another controller by shorting it out again.
This controller has a limited lifetime warranty, so I would recommend you contact wherever you bought this controller and see if they will warranty it for you.
