Using Saris Anti Rattle Hitch Bolt For Towing Travel Trailer with Weight Distribution

Question:

Can this accessory be used with a 7000 pound travel trailer with a weight distribution system. The bolt seems a little small when replacing the 5/8 inch pin.??? If not, what do you recommend that can be used??? Thanks a lot!!

This anti-rattle hitch bolt is intended for use with a Saris bike rack. It has not been designed for nor would it work for the purpose you describe, because the bolt will only work on accessories with hollow shanks. The bolt is not rated for towing purposes.

Using a standard hitch pin like the # PC3 would be your best bet. The spring bars of the system apply a great deal of force to the weight distributing shank, which is applied to the hitch of the vehicle. This force should hold the shank tightly against the side of the receiver, preventing any rattle. If you are having movement of the shank inside the receiver, I highly recommend reviewing the set-up instructions for your system to ensure your system is set up correctly.
