I did some research into the snow chain situation on your 2013 Subaru Crosstrek and it sounds like Subaru does not recommend the use of chains, but if you do decide to use them in an emergency situation that you should be sure to use a Class S or better rated traction device.
Class S is a clearance rating that means there is less than 15 mm between the inner portion of the tire sidewall and the wheel well.
The best option I can give you would be the Thule Premium Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains # TH01594247. From my research on your vehicle it looks like it came with 255/55R17 tires, these chains are designed to work on that size. These chains also fit well below the Class S rating as unlike other chains they do not take up any clearance between the inner side wall of the tire and the wheel well.
I attached a couple FAQ articles on snow chains for you to check out also.
I was not able to determine what spring chains are.
