Question:
I have a 2014 Subaru Forester. The hitch is 1 1/4. The hitch pin hole depth from the open end of the hitch is about 1/2. I have a T2ProXTR Model 9035XTR bike rack which needs a pin hole depth requirement of 1.5. Would part#D189 hitch extender work to meet this requirement?

Expert Reply:
Using the Curt Hitch Extender # D189 will give you 2" from the center of the front hitch pin hole to the end of the receiver tube. This will allow the anti-rattle for the Thule T2 Pro XTR Bike Rack # TH23JV to work properly. Do understand by using the extender it will lower your tongue weight capacity by 50%. It will likely be a better idea to replace your receiver with the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C12100 so you will not have to use an adapter.
