Updated 07/21/2025 | Published 04/30/2023

Question:

I just hooked up a Resse Brake-Evn proportional brake control, 8508211, and followed all instructions for hook up to my 2017 RAM 1500 but it has been about 20 mins and one of the led lights, a single dot, is still lit is this normal?

If you take a look at the instruction manual for a Tekonsha BRAKE-EVN Trailer Brake Controller part # TK63VR, you'll see that a single red dot represents that the brake controller has power but there is no trailer connected. Therefore, if you don't have a trailer hooked up but the truck is on then yes, this is normal. I have attached a list of other displays below for you as well and what they mean. If you're still having issues, check out the troubleshooting section of the instruction manual also attached below.

What if the truck is off and 1 red LED stays illuminated. If you select B1 B2 or B3 2 red LED lights stay in when the truck is off.

@JimC That sounds like the Tekonsha BRAKE-EVN Trailer Brake Controller item # TK63VR is functioning correctly.
