It sounds like what you're looking for is the Camco Replacement Lid for Ventline and Elixir RV Roof Vents # CAM40161.
This replacement lid will work with your Elixir roof vent on your 1995 Northern Lite, is made from polycarbonate soo it's virtually unbreakable, and is a translucent white color so some light will be able to pass through.
