Question:
I would like to replace the steel trailer wheels on my RV. It has a gross weight of 4800 lbs. The trailer sits on a single axle. Are there any aluminum wheels that can handle this kind of weight? It has 15x6 5 lug rims on it now.

The highest capacity we offer for an aluminum 15" diameter x 6" wide trailer wheel with 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern is 2,150 lbs like the Aluminum Hi-Spec Series 6 Trailer Wheel part # AM22651 which is what I recommend. This likely has the same rating as the steel wheel you have now as the highest capacity we offer for a steel 15" diameter x 6" wide trailer wheel with 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern is also 2,150 lbs. I have attached our full selection of aluminum wheels in this size below if you prefer a different style.
I think there may be a confusion in what the wheel capacity needs to be rated for as it's not the full loaded weight of the trailer but rather, the full loaded weight of the trailer minus the tongue weight. For example, let's say the loaded trailer's actual weight is 4,500 lbs loaded and the weight capacity of the wheels/tires is only 4,300 lbs. You may then think the wheels/tires are underrated but that's not the case because we must subtract the tongue weight from the loaded weight of the trailer which on the low end will be 450 lbs. In which case, the wheels/tires are in fact rated for the weight of the trailer.
