What is the Purpose of The Screw On The Side of The Pollak 6-Pole Socket 11-607 # PK11608?

Question:

I have a Pollak 11-607 trailer socket. What is the little screw for on the back/side of connector? Not the screws that hold the individual wires but the one screw around the perimeter….wasn’t screwed in very far and seems to fit an indentation in the metal portion of the socket. I did tighten it up?

The screw on the side of the Pollak 6-Pole, Round Pin, Trailer Wiring Socket 11-607 # PK11608 allows you to remove the connector core. When you remove the screw you will be able to remove the core for connecting the wiring. This allows you to more easily make changes to the wiring without having to remove the whole connector. This should be snug inside the connector otherwise it would allow it to move inside the connector.
