Question:
Hi folks, my local garage that installed my prior eTrailer hitch on my old Honda could not get this model CURT wiring adapter to work with my 22 Outlander. He stated the LED tail light wiring did not work with the Splice clips that came with the Curt kit I assume the LED wire gauge was too small and he could not get a good connection. Is there a splice/connection piece you recommend for this situation? Thanks a bunch.

I do have an option for you but there is really no reason to use the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # C59236 on a 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander as there is a custom kit available, the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # C43WR. The custom kit simply plugs in so there is no splice or warranty issues to worry about.
That said, the connections that come with the universal harness can be sourced locally, you'd just need to find ones that work with a smaller gauge wire. I'm kind of surprised this caused any professional not to be able to install the harness. The harnesses are universal so there's always a chance for the install to vary from the instructions or extra parts to be required like smaller connectors. The blue ones work with a wire as small as 18 gauge so you'd simply need one that works with 20 gauge or smaller, the Quick Splices - Self-Stripping Connector part # SWC502885-1.
