Change In Curt Hitches Available For 2012 Kia Sportage SX

Question:
Did the curt hitch C13120 change design recently? I have a C13120 tubular type that contacts with the exhaust. The C13120 shown on your website seems more rectangular than tubular. Does the newly designed hitch eliminate the contacting issue for a 2012 Kia Sportage SX?

Manufacturers can change the design of their products if they feel a change needs to be made to provide a better fit for their products. I spoke with my contact at Curt and they told me that there was a round tube design hitch, # 13123, that fit Kia Sportage SX models. They have since discontinued that model, and according to the fitguide, the # C13120 is the only Curt hitch available for the Sportage SX model. They were not able to tell me if the reason for changing hitches that fit your vehicle was due to the issue you referred to.
