Question:
I JUST PURCHASED A 2008 TRAIL BLAZER THAT I USE TO PULL A 29FT CAMPER ABOUT 2 OR 3 TIMES A YEAR. WHAT CONTROLLER WOULD YOU SUGGEST.

Expert Reply:
I would recommend a proportional controller, like the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, part # 90885. A proportional controller has an internal sensor that can determine how quickly and at what intensity the tow vehicle is stopping. The controller would then send the appropriate amount of voltage to the trailer brakes so that the trailer and vehicle are stopping at the same rate. This leads to a smoother stop, while causing less wear and tear on the vehicle and trailer brakes.
A time-delayed controller will always send the same amount of preset voltage whether you have lightly pressed the brake pedal or are trying to avoid hitting that critter that just jumped in front of you.
The P2 is very easy to use and set up, and is one of our best selling brake controllers.
