Parts Recommended For Reducing Sag While Towing a 30' Travel Trailer With a 2021 Ram 1500

Published 01/14/2023

Question:

Hello, I am reading about the SumoSprings kit part # SSR-307-47. I have a 2021 Ram 1500 Bighorn. We are going to purchase a 30foot travel trailer and Im concerned about the sagginginch and tongue weight. Ive read the reviews and it appears the Sumos are great with a tongue weight of approximately 600lbs. However, I am looking at a tongue weight of approximately 800 to 1100lbs. Im concerned the Sumos wont be able to support the tongue weight and my truck will still sag. I understand you are in the business to selling products,, but please be honest on whether the Sumos will support the above described tongue weight or not. Its obvious the Sumos are a good product based on reviews, which leads me to believe the rest of your products are of equal quality. I will look at another one of your options if you believe the Sumo will not work. I do like the nofoot maintenance of the Sumos, but I will go to air bags if necessary. Thank you for your time and advice.

The best part you can add to your 2021 Ram 1500 Bighorn for towing a 30' travel trailer is the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ37120ET. This hitch system will not only allow you to redistribute the tongue weight evenly across your Ram and reduce sag but will also add sway prevention to make driving safer. The large surface area on the side of the travel trailer makes it more likely to encounter sway caused by strong winds. This hitch is rated for a trailer with a tongue weight of 800-1,200lbs and a maximum weight of 12,000lbs. You will need a 1-7/8" 12pt Thin Walled Socket # ALL643216 to install the included 2-5/16" hitch ball.

The SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-307-47 are great for carrying heavy loads in your bed as well as being used when towing heavy flat bed trailers. These do not help with sway prevention nor will a set of air bags.
