To install the Surco Safari Rack 5.0 Rooftop Cargo Basket # SPS5060-Y400 onto your 1999 Ford Explorer Sport 2 door you will first need to have the Yakima Crossbar system installed onto your vehicle. If you do not have the Yakima Crossbar system you will need the parts below:

Yakima CoreBar Crossbars # Y00421
SkyLine Towers for Yakima Crossbars # Y53TR
Landing Pad 1 for Yakima SkyLine and Control Towers # Y00221

The three parts above will give you the needed crossbar set up to be able to use the Surco Safari Rack. The crossbars has a weight capacity of 220 pounds. When using the Surco rack you will not have any issues hauling around 48 inch plywood panel if you secure it right.
