Question:
I have a Q16 rated for 16,000 lbs. I want to replace it with a Q30 or Q25. Do I need to change out my frame mounts and bed mounts ?

Expert Reply:
If you have the Curt Fifth Wheel Base Rails in either the Gloss Black # C16104 or Carbide Black # C16204 those are only capable of supporting up to 25,000lbs. This would allow you to switch from the Q16 # C16120 to the Curt Q25 # C16265. Otherwise you will need to change to the Dark Gray Rails # C99JR and under bed mounts to use the larger 30,000LB Curt A30 # C66HR or PowerRide # C22ER 5th wheel hitches. Curt does not currently manufacturer a Q30 5th wheel hitch. If you can let me know your trucks year, make and model I can let you know what underbed brackets you will also need for the 30,000lb 5th wheel hitches.
