Will The 2020 Volvo XC90 Allow For a Weight Distribution Hitch When Trailer Towing?

Question:
Hello, Im towing a 3,500 GWVR single axle trailer trailer. Im anticipating to use my Volvo XC90 T8 as the vehicle and I am currently in the process of having a factory Class-III hitch installed. However, in my readings I came across a warning that read: Never use the towbar together with a hitch weight distribution system. Could you help me out and explain to me what would be the reasoning for this? Are they essentially saying to tow the camper directly without the WDH? I would imagine that would be the case. There is built-in anti-sway technology somewhere in the mix, but it just caught me off guard. My current WDH system is CURT 17063 Round Bar Weight Distribution Hitch with Integrated Lubrication and Sway Control What risks would I be taking in using the WDH? Should I scrap the folding hitchinch idea and go with a draw-tite instead? Thanks.

It would appear the factory receiver or any of the aftermarket receivers available for your 2020 Volvo XC90 are not rated for use with a weight distribution hitch. This is likely due to the construction of the frame and it components on your Volvo. By using a weight distribution on this vehicle you will risk damage to the frame and components of the receiver.
We do offer the Tuson Asymmetric Sway Control # 335TSC-1000 which will control any trailer sway with the electric trailer brakes. This will allow you to not need a weight distribution hitch to control sway. The load leveling can then be handled by the factory air suspension if you have that option or you may be able to add one of Air Lift's Universal Kits like # AL60917. You will need to measure the inside diameter of your rear coil springs along with the height of the springs when unloaded.
